Tetbury Barn Conversion

Posted by: ppadmin

Conversion of a Listed agricultural barn in poor structural condition into a house.

The roof was completely replaced and restored with a new green oak frame and the existing concrete tiles were replaced with natural slate.

High levels of insulation were fitted throughout together with double glazing and underfloor heating.

All of the plasterwork was restored using traditional lime putties and the building was completely repointed using lime mortar.

A ground source heat pump with vertical borehole loops was installed together with a solar thermal panel for heating how water.

At first the conservation officer was uneasy about the solar panel but, agreed that the impact on the building was minimal and were outweighed by the ecological and energy saving characteristics.
